Summer learning journey

 Hi Blogger, today Mr Margets came to the Te Waka Ako. He explained the Summer learning journey to us. The first thing that we had to do is register on the Ako Hiko site. Then we had to watch a video explaining  how to use the Art Coloring Book. The Art Coloring book basically is a site where you can take landmarks or famous paintings and replicate it on the site the painting that I used was a photo of a watermelon. It was really fun I will put a photo of my one and real one guess wich is the real on blog you later.

Intermediate Visit

On Friday the 27th the year six's that are going to Waikowhai Intermediate got to meet their teachers for 2021 and our classmates. My teacher's name is Ms Kumar. She is really nice and also I am in the same class as my friend Ethan. We are in class 10. There are three other people in my future class that are from my primary school. There names are Pao, Ayo and Amena. In the class there was 2 councilor that talked us about camp an other things. I am super excited about going to intermediate check out there school site, blog you later! link

Skateboarding

Do you like skateboarding? Well we do!

Hello bloggers. On Friday the 20th of November, we did skateboarding. We had two instructors. their names were Ben and Laurence. The first thing that we did was  to see which foot was our front foot. We found out which foot was our front foot by falling forwards. The first foot that you put forward to stop your self from failing is your front foot. 

The most awesome thing that we did was playing What's Up, Wolf? Basically, What's Up Wolf is like red light, green light and what's the time Mr Wolf. It was the most awesome  thing that we did, also I was one of the wolfs, But I think that the most challenging thing was trying to crab walk. To be honest this was the day that I learnt how to skateboard. The thing that I gained from learning how to skateboard is that it has made me more confident on the skateboard . It was a really awesome experience. Blog you later!

Production

Hello bloggers! On Wednesday the 4th of November, Thursday the 5th of November and Friday the 6th of November we had our production. Our production was called Jasmine and Aladdin. It was our interpretation of Aladdin that it is why we change a few things like the title and how in our production the Genie is painted silver. In our production we have nine scenes. The production is one hour and thirty minutes long. Each ticket cost eight dollars. In the production I was a palace guard.

In the first scene Omar (or as you know as Jafar) and Geewiz (Omar's assistant) go to the desert to find the great Cave of Wonders! When Omar finds the cave he tells the password but The cave says that they have to bring Aladdin so Omar tells Geewiz to get Aladdin. In scene two Jasmine goes to the market and sees all of their goods but the problem is that she has no gold and takes a bite of an apple and has to pay 36 gold. Aladdin tries helping her but gets in trouble, too. Then Geewiz goes and asks him to come with him to the desert. He goes there and is tasked with getting a lamp for Omar. When he gets the lamp he shines it up so it gets clean, but instead it summons the Genie. Know this all goes own for a couple of scenes until scene seven where Omar puts a spell on every one except Jasmine and her mum, the Sultana. Omar gives that Sultan a proclamation. His proclamation it is that Jasmine is to marry Omar. Aladdin comes to save them but gets tricked into giving Omar the lamp. Then the guards get ordered to take Aladdin to the dungeons. Aladdin gets saved by Geewiz and Jasmine. Aladdin goes to confront Omar and saves everyone. Aladdin frees the Genie. Then Aladdin, Jasmine, Persia and the Genie go travelling. I really enjoyed it.

Film Festival

 Kia Ora Bloggers,  on the 15th of October we went to the cinemas at St Luke's for film festival. At the cinema we would view the movies that we made. There were 22 different movie's, each movie had to be less than three minutes. At the top there was a huge line it took 5 minutes for us to go in front of the line. They had free popcorn and choc tops. I was the first person from our team to be there. 10 minutes before the movie began my friend Ari came. After he arrived we went and sat next to the other people in our movie. I ate my ice cream right when the movies began so The whole time the movies were playing I had nothing to eat. It took like and hour and  half for the movies to finish. After we left the cinemas all to stores were closed so we went back home. The whole experience was really fun and exciting, Blog you later.

Film Festival

 Hello Bloggers, every year in the senior syndicate we Have a Film Festival and each year we have a different topic then the last. This year our topic was kindness. At the end of Film Festival the students in the senior syndicate review the movie. The team that gets the most points out of your school goes to the semi finales where they vs people from other schools. In each group there are five people but In my group their is seven. Each movie has to be three minutes long. Our movie is about how kind people are during lockdown and after. This is the second time that I have been in Film Festival I hope that my group wins this year. Blog you later.

Production Rehearsals

Since the beginning of the term, we have been doing Production Rehearsals. Rehearsals are quite fun. Today we did 7 out of nine scenes. Our teacher was really happy with this because we did it in one hour. Since this week we have been doing rehearsals in the hall. Before this week when we did rehearsals we would just say our lines but now we also do actions.

The rehearsals are after school but today for the first time we did it during school. This Production is about Aladdin but we call it Aladdin and Jasmine because Jasmine and Aladdin are both very important in the movie. In the production I am a guard. I have rehearsals about twice a week. Blog ya later!

cross country

Hello bloggers on the 2nd of july we had cross country. This year I was a year six and a leader so I had to  stay at a station and set up the games for cross country. Cross country started at 11 o'clock so until morning tea it was a normal day. Throughout the day we had to wear our house colours. I was in Ruru so I wore blue during the day. The people who weren't setting up the games were in  their year groups, they got to go and play the games. A teacher or teacher aide had to go with them and make sure that they we listening to the leaders and not being silly.

The station that me and my friends were in charge of was the playground and relaxation area. After the run people would come to our station and play on the playground and board game's. The first group that came to our station were the year fives. The year fives helped us set up the games then the year twos came. we had six different groups that came two us. Then the year fours packed the games up while we went and got ready for the cross country run. This was my last cross country of being in primary school it was a really fun day. blog you later.

recount

Hello Bloggers On Tuesday the 20th of June we did a recount. We had to choose a image from the photo bank. The image I chose was a photo of us doing mindfulness with Miss Ikinofo.  After we had chosen a photo we went on a slide that we had planned our recount on.  The recount had to include six paragraphs, the five W's and a hook sentence. Digital tool kits 2020

 On Thursday the 18th of june, we had Toolkits. The difference with this toolkit was that instead of going to another school, we did it on a google meet in our school hall. One of the advantages of doing it on a google meet, is that more people could go and play with what the presenters were presenting. I was one of the attendees, I got to use the sites that the presenters were presenting.

The first session that I participated in was the food truck meet. The presenters taught us how to use google sheets as a calculator.  I didn't really like this activity because the people that attended it were talking and using the chat to talk with their friend. And another reason that I did not like this was because the presenters left for 10 minutes!

For the second session, I did the Incredibox activity. It was fun and cool. One of the reasons that I liked it was because the presenters were good at communicating. The second reason that I liked Incredibox was that I knew how to use it. We also got more time to make beats because it was less laggy and we did not have to leave. But a problem was that they could not show us the video that they had made.

 The last session was kahooting kahoots. The presenters taught us how to make kahoots and also how to make accounts on kahoot. Ten minutes before the end we got to show the presenters the kahoots that we made. Then we went back to class. Overall the toolkit was fantastic Blog you later!

Hi Bloggers Today was a really awesome week, we did lots of fun activity, like 20 minute fitness or geting the free pizza and ice block on Thursday. It also was The last week of us doing the creation slideshow. The middles and seniors had a councillor election luckily I was one of the people to be elected as a counsellor So as you can see it has been a awsome week, Blog you later.

Hi bloggers This was the second week of school it was really fun because we did kahoot a hand print art and lockdown smack down. But my favorite thing that we did this week was the animal handprint art. But things are starting to go to normal. Blog you later.

My Lockdown Diary

During the Covid-19 lockdown period, Te Waka Ako worked on the lockdown the diary for writing. The Lockdown diary is a slide with activities that you have to do for each day. My favorite slide is who is in your bubble, because you have to put in the name of the people in your bubble then you write what you appreciate about them. I think that the lockdown diary will be good at explaining what you did to be occupied during the lockdown. I liked the lockdown diary because there are a lot of fun activities, overall I think that the lockdown diary was successful. Here is the link Blog you later.

What Mahan's been doing during lockdown.

Hi Blogs it has been a week since the lock down started. Only hospitals and places like Paknsave Countdown New World etc are open.  I hope everything has been going well for you guys. Since the week started me and my family have been making a lot of our own house staples. LIke Bread Yogurt Hummus and other stuff. I have been making and cooking food around the house. Also watching lots of tv shows on Netflix also some home work. I also play on my Xbox sometimes. Today I have mostly been marking my Kumon. Stay safe and Blog you later.

Hello bloggers this is my second blog thanks for coming, I will get started now. At the start of the year the senior syndicate had to write our getting to know form, GTKY for Short. We did this so people in the senior syndicate could know stuff about us. We had to write about our family background, the things that we like and others things like things that we dislike. After we finished we would print our getting to know you and put it in a book for our libraries. The things that changed from last year is that I put more info for GTKY like the family background. day 1 week 1 slj

hi guys for the holiday we have to do the summer learning journey. We do this so that next year we do not have to spend two months learning stuff from the past year. For our first activity we have too Imagine that you were invited to join Nainoa for three weeks at sea. We are asked to pack your own food. List 10 food items that you could take on the trip. Remember you will not have a fridge or freezer! 

1. for the first one i will anzac biscuits

2.I will also bring goat cheese as a source of savoury

3. i will bring dried grains as a source of carbohydrates

4. i will bring dried apricot to remain healthy                                               

5. will also bring honey as a sweet item

6. nuts will be a great source of fat protein and fiber

7. I will also bring canned coconut milk.

8. I will also huge can of water.

9. I will have Soy sauce.

10.I will bring sugar.

On Wednesday the fourth of December we had our last Futsal session with Leon and Kingsley. It was not just Manukau half of Hauraki came with us. We went under the gazebo and organized into groups. Then we lined up in groups we played silly games which were like relays. For one of the games that we played we had to roll the ball throw our legs. For another one we had to run with the ball and kick it into our teammates hands. And we also played a game that's similar to hot potato. We had to tap the ball backwards. We played a variety of games but  sadly it was the last futsal.

Hi Bloggers, on Wednesday the 27th on November we had Bigfoot bike skills. First we went to the shade house the instructors told us what close a suitable for biking and what is not suitable. Then instructors picked models to model what is suitable clothing. After we knew what to where they sould us how to know if the straps on the helmet are a suitable size for you. Next we were told to line up from smallest to biggest that was when we were given bikes. I got in the beginners group because I was not sure if I could go with the others. They told us to balance on the bikes. We really didn't do anything else. After morning tea we waited on the steps. Then they gave us our bikes. We did some laps around the courts. Then we were organised into two groups. we try to perfectly break on the lines. If you fail 1 point would go to your group. First we did our front brakes then we did our back brakes. The team to get the most points would lose. We sadly lost the exercise. After that we practice signaling. We would go in a straight line , when we got to a cone we would look bake and shout the number of fingers Heny was pointing. That was the last thing we did we were given prizes by the instructors. athletics day

Hello bloggers. On the 19th of November we had Athletics Day. The bell rang at 8:50. The whole school gathered outside in our age groups. Then we set of to do the activities. Our first activity was long jump then we did sprints. Me and Aidan tied twice for fourth. After running we went to the cheering station and cheered on the six year old girls. Then we had Morning Tea wich was also shortened. We had long jump wich I am really bad at. We also had tennis. Then we did team building. We had to go over rubbish and bacteria by using plastic circles Finally we had shot put wich I was waiting all day for. Lastly we had our house relays Kea won both senior relays. We had six races, two Juniors two Middle, and two Seniors. My opinion of Athletics day is that it was very fun my favorite activity was sprints. Blog you later!
