Gumboot Friday and Mental Health
Hi on last Friday we made cards for Gumboot Friday. For all of you who don’t know what Gumboot Friday is, New Zealand has Gumboot Friday to fund raise for people with issues with Mental Health. On the actual Gumboot Friday all the Teachers wore Gumboots to support Mental Health. The man who made Gumboot Friday used Gumboots because when you usually walk in mud you wear Gumboots and when you are depressed it is like walking in mud. Mental Health is your emotional health like how you feel how you think and what is your mindset is.
The thing we did to support Mental Health is to post positive comments in people’s mailboxes. We posted the positive card so it lifts people spirit and also Wellbeing is our Inquiry focus for the year and it is a random act of kindness. There was thirty kids who were picked to fill in the Puketapapa Student Questionnaire. One of the students said that we should post positive comments to people’s mailboxes so it makes people happy.
Our focus for Inquiry is Wellbeing for the whole year. And we thought this will also be relevant for our Inquiry focus. Mental Health is around Wellbeing. And if you have mental health problems that means you are not Wellbeing. My opinion about Gumboot Friday is that it is really good that someone would care about other people’s Mental Health. Here are some photos. Here are some photos and blog you later.
